In The Hanging Garden
Incorporating both The Garden and Cathedral, In The Hanging Garden purveys delicious food and beverages, top notch tunes, seasonal events, and the occasional festival in a lush garden setting.
About
Opening in 2019 during Dark Mofo, ‘In The Hanging Garden’ refers both to the broader precinct and to the venue housing both The Garden and Cathedral. In the upper tier garden area you’ll find resident kitchens SLOW and Anju, and on the lower level in Cathedral lives Mother Mexico, Pizza Pizza, and St. J’s. Both levels feature extensive beer gardens with bars and ample seating.
When night falls on Friday and Saturday nights, Cathedral transforms into a space for nightlife as DJs take over for late night dance parties. Once a year, In The Hanging Garden forms the central hub of Tasmania’s midwinter festival, Dark Mofo.
Accessibility
Access the upper tier of In The Hanging Garden from both 112 Murray Street and the Watchorn Street entrance. There is braille signage and tactile ground surface indicators throughout the venue. Accessible entry to Cathedral on the lower level is via 153 Liverpool Street. Both sections of the venue have an accessible toilet, and all tables are fixed with online ordering systems with access to each of the resident kitchens.
Opening Hours
Open Wednesday—Sunday, 11am till late.
