Much-loved Australian hip hop group The Herd are coming to Altar Bar in February to celebrate 20 years of their career-defining record, The Sun Never Sets.

Boldly delving into significant topics of the time and inspiring conversations around anti-racism, decolonisation, and environmentalism, The Sun Never Sets cemented the band as one of Australia’s most forward-thinking and exciting acts—earning them festival spots with their compelling set-up of rappers, singers, guitars, laptops and piano accordions at Big Day Out and Splendour In The Grass, among others.

The Herd’s cover of Redgum’s I Was Only 19 on triple j’s Like A Version became part of Australian music lore, claiming certified ARIA Gold status and landing in the top 20 tracks of triple j’s Hottest 100 in both 2005 and 2023, a clear testament to its enduring impact.

‘[The album] came out in the shadow of the Cronulla riots, when flag-draped racism was on the rise, and we were pushing back with tracks like ‘National Holiday’,’ says The Herd member Kenny Sabir. ‘We were still deep in experimentation mode too, making the MCs rap in odd time signatures and seeing how far we could stretch things. Judging by the awkward crowd dancing, we definitely found the limit. We’re so excited to be celebrating this record on the special 20th anniversary tour and blast the jumpable crowd with faves like ‘Unpredictable’, ‘Under Pressure' and ‘We Can’t Hear You’, alongside some deeper album cuts.’

The Herd will treat audiences to tracks from this iconic album alongside favourites from the band’s catalogue, at Altar Bar on Saturday 21 February 2026.
