ORACLE NIGHTS - April Presents: Mearsy, Ezmarella and DJ Thensum curated by Grace Chia.

Welcome to the new monthly hip-hop nights at ALTAR. Every third Wednesday of the month come get aquatinted with some of Tasmania’s best underground hip-hop artists all for FREE!

Ezmarella, blends gritty psychedelic boombap with political messaging. A strong advocate for neurodiversity, Ezmarella’s single “Neurodivergent” is an anthem for autistic artists. She has played at music festivals including Synergy Arts and Music Festival and Multiverse Gathering. As well as local gigs like Pop Up Hip-Hop and Jaw Wide Open Mic. She is set to release her debut EP “Sunbeams” mid this year.

Mearsy writes all his lyrics with raw, honest emotion. He speaks on his experiences of being young and abused by the system. His song “For My Brothers” - an ode to incarcerated men struggling with their mental health has amassed over 86,000 views on YouTube. Since his release, Mearsy has been working hard on his music and using his experiences to shed light on his struggles and show a path out of the darkness.
