DVRKWORLD EP LAUNCH
Fri 04 Apr
DVRKWORLD brings their immersive shoegaze and alt-rock sound to Hobart, celebrating the launch of their debut EP. Expect walls of reverb, swirling fuzz, and driving rhythms that shift between ethereal and explosive—echoing influences like DIIV, Ride, Swervedriver, and The Black Angels.
This is a launch event for the bands debut EP and they will be joined on the night by a diverse lineup of Tassie artists, including:
CRAB: CRAB are committed to interpreting and upholding the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 through crusty, whiffy, intertidal zone hardcore punk. If you want to catch big fish you need big HOOKS. Know your bag limits, sharpen your squid jigs, and set your flatheads free.
FUNERAL JEANS: Fuck, this band only gives doomy cow-punk. Ever been best dressed and sad at a funeral? Perchance, Funeral Jeans might be the band for you. Rock and roll music for freaks and geeks. They’re trying their best and it’s going better than they expected.
SLAG QUEENS: Slag Queens are a post-punk band from lutruwita/Tasmania. They write songs about love, hope, the inexorable grind of daily life under capitalism, politicians, football, and nothing else. Their music, like life is, at times hard, at times soft, and at times somewhere in the middle. They have been described as “varied as groups like Talking Heads, Bratmobile and Tune-Yards” and also as “the worst band in Launceston”
RVNKNG: (FKA Milquebarth) navigates the cute, dark, and uncertain realms of underground music culture. His debut LP, I'll figure it out, released through RKS Records, reflects a fascination with hidden spaces and the anonymity they oJer. Influenced by artists like Toma Kami, Joey Beltram, DJ Nobu, Venetian Snares, and MCR-T, RVNKNG's DJ sets focus on unpredictability and a playful embrace of uncertainty.
This event offers a handful of tickets at a reduced cost to encourage accessibility. If you'd like to know more, please email dvrkworldband@gmail.com
